PREFACE This Customer Software Release Notice (CSRN) provides important information for using Release 1.54.00 of the VS XDMS Cluster Server and is intended for all users. This CSRN is organized as follows: Chapter 1 describes enhancements to the release. Chapter 2 details hardware and software requirements. Chapter 3 lists problems corrected since the last general release. Chapter 4 describes restrictions and special considerations. Chapter 5 lists the files included in this package. Chapter 6 provides installation instructions. CHAPTER 1 ENHANCEMENTS N/A CHAPTER 2 HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS 2.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS A 16-MB Virtual Address Capable processor linked with with another similar processor utilizing RSF controllers. 2.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS VS Operating System 7.54.00 or later XDMS version 1.54.00 or later CHAPTER 3 CORRECTED PROBLEMS N/A CHAPTER 4 RESTRICTIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS The implementation of XDMS Cluster Server is intended to provide for accessability in a clustered environment. In that a second level of file processing is being added it should be understood that performance measurements for IO processed accross the cluster will have somewhat greater CPU costs. Application performance levels have been found to be at acceptable levels. Careful tuning in a multi-system environment is much more important. This release no longer supports the COBOL verb 'Hold Extention Rights'. Rollforward recovery cannot be performed across the cluster. The XDMSSERV does not update file IO counts until a file close operation is issued, this will affect the accuracy of SAM data collection and analysis.
