PREFACE The Small VS RCU class Diagnostic Package is designed for testing the VS 5000/6000 hardware configurations. These programs can be used for: Manufacturing production, pretest and board burn-in; Customer Engineering field repair. Customer diagnosis to the Customer Replaceable Unit. CHAPTER 1 ENHANCEMENTS @MCIPL@ corrects Year 2000 handling. CHAPTER 2 HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS 2.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS Any VS 5000/6000 with: Floppy Diskette Drive (5-1/4" 1.2 Mb) One (1) Workstation to act as Workstation Zero (System Console) 2.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS For the VS Resource Control Unit: PROM Part Numbers: 379-5025R1, 379-5026R1 PROM Revision: 1.00.01 or later For the VS SIO IOC (If used for Workstation 0 control): PROM Part Numbers: 379-2127, 379-2128 PROM Revision: 1.00.00 (5860) or later CHAPTER 3 PROBLEMS CORRECTED IN RELEASE 2.12.00 Release 2.12.00 was packaged with a corrupt @RCUDAT file. That problem has been corrected in this release. CHAPTER 4 RESTRICTIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS The Small VS RCU-Class Diagnostic package offers an auto-start feature. Within several seconds of displaying the IPL Drive Select screen, the system will automatically attempt to IPL. To override this feature, simply depress the function key PF16. Auto-start IPL will fail due to the lack of appropriate microcodes on the diskette. However IPL from another volume may be selected. To use this program with workstation zero connected to a SIO IOC the following files, which are not part of this package, are required. @MC4205 Workstation microcode @MC50V67 SIO IOC microcode @SB0861 IOC boot loader CHAPTER 5 SPECIAL CONDITIONS None are known at this time. These files may be copied/backed up to the VS IPL volume. If this is done, a DISKINIT RELABEL of the IPL volume must be performed prior to the next IPL to update the pointer to the file @MCBOOT@. The same volume name can be used on the relabel.
