CHAPTER 1 ENHANCEMENTS @MCCP11@ This microcode now supports 128 megabytes of memory. @MCIPL@ The year 2000 is now supported. The date entry remains as two digits, however the main screen now displays the correct four digit year and will correctly update on the rollover to the year 2000. CHAPTER 2 HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS OS INSTALL supports CP9 and CP11 systems. CHAPTER 3 CORRECTED PROBLEMS Release 2.34.00 was packaged with a corrupt @RCUDAT@ file. That problem has been corrected in this release. CHAPTER 4 SPECIAL CONDITIONS N/A CHAPTER 5 RESTRICTIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OS Install can be used to install an Operating System from tape to a fixed disk provided the following guidelines are followed: I. Backing up the system software to tape (PF5 from the main menu). a. Using VS BACKUP, backup the input disk. b. Initialize the input disk to clean it up. c. Restore the data backed up in step a. After performing the above steps, you may then run OS Install to create system software. II. Installing IPL software previously created with OS Install, to a fixed disk (PF4 from the main menu). a. If all the above steps were followed when the tape was created, then the tape may be restored to a fixed disk. b. If the above steps were not followed unexpected results may occur, as OS Install will not work with input disks that are fragmented. This version of OS Install is not backward compatible. If you keep a copy of your system volume in OS Install format, you should recreate those tapes with the current version of OS Install. Please follow the steps outlined in (I) and (II) and in the OS Install Utility Administrator's Guide (715-3226). CAUTION: OS Install is NOT a replacement for VS BACKUP. All critical data should be backed up using VS BACKUP. Use OS Install only to create media which will allow you to recreate your IPL system disk in case of a system disk crash. Since OS Install only scans the first 4 ports of each IOC it is important that you attach your disk drives and tape drives to the (50V68, 50V68E) IOC's first 4 ports. OS INSTALL will not recognize any disk drive or tape drive connected after the first 4 ports. When running OS Install on a CP with a PC Classic, after installation is successfully completed (PF4 initiate installation) OS Install gives the option of installing another package or performing an IPL. If "install" is chosen the user receives an I/O error on reading the floppy. To continue, dismount and re-mount the floppy, then press PF4 to initiate installation.
