G410009852 The operator message "Internal System Error Indicated by Inconsistent Printer Task Message" is misleading. The message has been re-worded and is now removable. M200020992 The Task Manager WSTABLE is overwritten and tasks are unable to CLOGON/CLOGOFF. M200021075 Devices higher than 128 from the beginning of a 70V67 controller cannot be used for TC devices. M200021768 At customers request, SYSID will now show up on Operator and Command Processor screens. M200021899 CP11 does not recognize any memory over 64 meg. M200022106 The operator hangs when controlling a printer which has printed line 75 of a 75 line file. The user then tries to backup 1 page and the operator screen freezes. Another user can then control the printer. M200022744 Users already logged on to a system in the RSF cluster are required to re-enter their password to a different system in the cluster (even when using the same userid). M200022798 Dual mode operators are being forced into operator mode, even when the user logged on is in WP or WPPLUS. M200022855 Session Manager cancels, cannot find PPB for DLP. M200023139 System halts with DTXE error halt. M200023165 A printer that is configured at unit 999 cannot be restarted. M200023173 RSFMON shows the RSF Trace Table. It shows the bus address field (contained in the IOSW). It is not immediately obvious which system corresponds to which bus address. M200023195 Add descriptions for X'C4', X'C0', and X'C1' on the RSF Trace screen of RSFMON. M200023212 "PF12 RSF Info" shows in "Control Tape" screen in operator when it should not. M200023386 Dual-mode operator is not interrupted for Operator messages. M200023435 When in Operator Mode, the display of files used by a program is incomplete if the program is using remote XDMS files. M200023446 Task Manager crashes with 0057 from supervisor 'Seize could cause deadlock' if a help disabled user has a logon procedure on a remote volume. M200023447 System hangs in machine check 20 routine. M200023469 System may PCDU if RLOGON from sysA to sysB and then attempting to CLOGON from sysB to sysA. M410010939 Operator alert messages are being presented to alternate operator consoles. M410011004 Remote user gets a PCDU, PC03 WSLEVEL. M410011283 If a user walks on his UFB and file closes are being logged, a PCDU results. M410011564 Unknown IPC error in STEP (Voice) after calling IWAIT. M410011778 The Task Manager crashes when a disconnect is received by a 4600 device. M410011797 Customer experienced PCDU system dump when submitting SNA twice. SNA failed with a PC04. M410012023 A user attempts to print a file for which he does not have rights, however the program he is running has a print option and rights to the file, but nothing gets queued. M410012065 4600 devices hang if user sets Genedit option "Log off user on disconnect" to "NO". M410012183 System hang when disconnecting/reconnecting file server. M410012202 User received the message "Unable to load microcode to printer". Pressing PF9 (Control Printers) resulted in a PCDS. M410012310 Assistance Required messags appear and are not removable even though the printer is printing. M410012334 All lightspeed users lock up and all servers have to be cancelled and re-booted. Server and clients are both waiting on messages that never materialize. M410012357 ISB2 cancelling a task. M410012366 The Task Manager PCDUs with a PC29. The user was attempting to run BACKUP. M410012391 Intermittent return code 305 on Operator program status screen. This seems to happen on clusters with 3 or more systems. M410012394 IOELOG crashes with PC07 when user presses ENTER to view non-standard error: Lost extents reported by SCRATCH. M410012430 IOELOG displays a message asking customers to contact the VSOS support group. M410012448 IOELOG crashes when restarted. M410012496 When IPL'ing a system with a large configuration and with dynamic reconfig installed, the system goes into debug. Also, if IPL'ing with a very large config (980+ devices) dynamic reconfig stops working. M500018324 When issuing a FREEALL in a non-DMSTX environment and a 3 system cluster, records are not released. M800021741 EXTRACT subroutine does not return a correct value when extracting non-resident physical memory. M800021822 Making any modifications to a user ID resulted in the message "Sorry, this user already exists". M800022436 Incorrect transaction processing. M800023704 Intermittent ULUM. M800024615 If a user in TAPECOPY is force cancelled (or presses Help/PF16 to cancel), the workstation and tape drive may hang. M800024635 PCDU resuming a suspended remote user who was in DEBUG. M800025145 May DTLP if a user has one or more shared files opened, and someone XMITS to their ANNN port and the user tries to open another shared file. M800025161 Mounting a tape results in a PCDU. M800025611 GETMEM exhaustion or warning messages are being displayed when there is no apparent loss of GETMEM. CHAPTER 6 MEDIA CONTENTS 6.1 OVERVIEW This chapter describes the files that make up Release 7.50.03 of the VS Operating System. The information in this chapter will help to determine which files to maintain on the system volume. To conserve space on the system volume, delete all unnecessary files after completing the installation of this release. The CODE column indicates whether or not a file should be installed on a customer system. The code consists of at most three characters: the first is an alphabetic character which indicates the installation option; the second is a digit which restricts the code to a certain CP type only; the third is used to indicate a footnote, which may describe additional information or documentation about the file. The installation option codes are as follows: M MANDATORY: This file must always be installed. This installation option code applies primarily to the operating system files, files required during IPL, and certain utilities such as SECURITY. C HARDWARE CONFIGURATION DEPENDENT: This file should be deleted if the corresponding device is not part of the system configuration. U USER-DEFINED: This file must reside on the system volume, but the contents are user defined. This installation option code applies to data files used by system programs (for example, the USERLIST file, which is maintained by the SECURITY utility). O OPTIONAL: This file should be included only if it will be used. Most utilities are assigned this code. 6.2 VS OPERATING SYSTEM KERNAL LIBRARY = @SYSTEM@ Code Module Version Description M @CPYDMP@ 07.50.03 Procedure to copy dumps M @FFM 07.50.03 File Manager Task M @GENMSG@ 07.50.03 Displays "System Generation in Progress" message M @IOCDRT@ 07.50.03 IOC Routing Table M @IOCLOD@ 07.50.03 IOC Load M @IOSLOAD 07.50.03 Loads Microcode to devices M @LOGGER@ 07.50.03 Security Logging Task M @OPER@ 07.50.03 Operator Console M @PAGE 07.50.03 Paging server to open paging to remote volumes M @PRTTSK@ 07.50.03 Printer Task M @QUEVER@ 07.50.03 Queue Verification M @RSFSYNC 07.50.03 @RSF Synchronization task M @SHARER@ 07.50.03 Sharer Task M8 @SYS008@ 07.50.03 VS CP8 Operating System Nucleus for VS300/7000 M9 @SYS009@ 07.50.03 VS CP9 Operating System Nucleus for VS5000 Series M10 @SYS010@ 07.50.03 VS CP10 Operating System Nucleus for VS10000 Series M12 @SYS012@ 07.50.03 VS CP12 Operating System Nucleus for VS8000 Series M14 @SYS014@ 07.50.03 VS CP14 Operating System Nucleus for VS12000 Series M @SYSCPR@ 07.50.03 Command Processor M @SYSDBG@ 07.50.03 System Debug M @SYSDMS2 07.50.03 Data Mgmt. CAUTION: Although steps have been taken to facilitate the process of installing Release 7.50.03, installation is a responsibility of Wang Customer Engineering on all VS systems. An attempt to install this Operating System on a VS system without the assistance of a Wang analyst could result in the loss of data or in improper system operation. 7.2 PRILIMINARY STEPS FOR UPGRADES 1. Inhibit logons and ensure that all users are logged off the system. 2. Log onto the system as a system administrator. 3. If an up-to-date backup of the entire system volume is not available, use the VS BACKUP utility to perform this backup now. 4. Systems upgrading should make a copy of their existing @SECFILE, USERLIST, FORMDEFN, @ALIAS@ and configuration (@CONFIG@) files. After the system has been installed, they should be reloaded. In this way all the proper system security options, userlist definitions, print form definitions, and the system configuration will be retained. 5. When the operating system is upgraded, all the information in the system QUEUE file will be lost. To ensure that your new system is set up exactly as it was before the upgrade perform the following: a. Using the appropriate Operator's Console functions, take notes on the outstanding jobs and transmissions listed in the Print, Procedure, Transmit, and Retrieve Queues so that these queues can be reconstituted after the upgrade. Alternately, wait for all outstanding jobs and transmissions to finish processing before proceeding. b. Take notes on the defaults for dual-mode workstations (additional Operator's Consoles), background job classes, printer class assignments, system parameter settings, page pool commitment ratio, and SPOOL/WORK/PAGE volumes. 6. When satisfied that the system is satisfactorily backed up, proceed to the next section and begin the installation. 7.3 SYSTEM INSTALLATION 1. IPL the system from an alternate IPL volume. 2. Using the VS BACKUP utility's RESTORE function, overlay the contents of the VSOS 7.50.03 tape onto your original system volume. 3. Using the VS BACKUP utility's RESTORE function, overlay the contents of the DSP 4.52 tape onto the original system volume. 4. IPL the system from the original system volume. The new VS Operating is now installed.
