CHAPTER 1 ENHANCEMENTS The Enhanced SCSI Support Package provides support for the DLT-7000 70 gigabyte tape cartridge (2283V1), the 70V68EW HP SCSI controller, and the 23V97WE and 70V67E controllers. @70V68EW Added support for the DLT8000 tape drive and the Sony 5.1 GB Optical drive. Support for a dismount/flush command to ensure data integrity for removable media. CHAPTER 2 SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS VS Operating System 7.53.01 or later CHAPTER 3 PROBLEMS CORRECTED @70V68EW Problems which resulted when switching between Fixed and Variable recording modes on tape drives have been corrected. Corrected a problem with Exabyte 8500 handling. Corrected problems associated with write protected tapes. This microcode has been linked with new DA microcode which corrected a problem using short differential cables with LightSpeed. Fixed a problem which resulted in device timeouts under heavy loading. Corrected problems leading to crash code 040F, 050F and 060F. CHAPTER 4 RESTRICTIONS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS Currently, if a user has extended microcode for the serial controllers (@23V97W version 55.07.xx or @70V67 version 51.00.xx) he replaces that microcode packaged with the Operating System with these optional microcodes. This causes a problem when a new Operating System is installed because the microcode files are overlayed and the affected controllers will no longer load if the number of physical ports exceed the number supported by the normal code. In some cases this renders the system inoperable. A request was made to rename the extended codes to something unique so that the above situation will no longer occur. The support is provided in this package. Note that the extended codes listed above should be renamed @70V67E (for @70V67 v. 51.00.xx) and @23V97WE (for @23V97W v. 55.07.xx). Also note that renaming the codes will still work if the user prefers. In this case, no action would be required unless a new microcode was produced. The user would then rename it to the old conventions (@23V97W or @70V67), or gen the controllers as 23V97WE or 70V67E respectively. If that has not yet been done, do so now following the installation instructions provided with that software. 1. Inhibit logons and ensure that all users are logged off the system. 2. Logon to the system as a system administrator. 3. If a current backup of the system volume is not available, use the BACKUP utility to perform this backup now. 4. IPL your system from a disk other than your current system volume. 5. Run BACKUP to RESTORE the contents of the release media to the original System Volume. 6. Run DISKINIT in @SYSTEM@ on the original System volume, the new DISKINIT installed in step 5. Execute the RELABEL function for the original System volume. This installs a new IPLTEXT on the original System volume which is required for IPLing from devices on the 70V68EW IOC. 7. IPL your system and run GENEDIT to modify the existing configuration file to include the new device(s).Note: If replacing a 70V68 with the new 70V68EW, copy the device information prior to changing the IOC type. Changing the IOC type will result in all device information for that slot being lost. 8. Power down the system and replace 70V68 IOC with new 70V68EW IOC 9. Power up the system and IPL from system volume using new configuration file
