Software Release Notice for CP18 CPU Microcode Version 18.80.00 February 23, 1999 1.0 Release Abstract ________________ This is an initial release of CPU microcode for CP18 systems with EPMS (Extended Physical Memory Support). 2.0 Prerequisites and Dependencies 2.1 Hardware Prerequisites ______________________ This microcode is for use with VS 18000 Series CPUs. 2.2 Software Prerequisites ______________________ This version of the CP18 Microprogram supports and REQUIRES Operating System Release 7.50.00 (or later). SYSCON version 3.31.00 (for Classic PC's) or version B3.31.00 (for industry standard PC's) is required for correct SCU support. 3.0 Restrictions and Special Considerations _______________________________________ This microcode can emulate older CPU types via a SCU software switch. If the switch is set to a CPU type older than CP18, the following microcode version numbers are reported to the VSOS: CP16=16.81.80, CP14=14.81.80, CP12=12.81.80, CP10=10.81.80, and CP8=08.81.80. 4.0 Enhancements ____________ None. 5.0 Problems Corrected __________________ None. 6.0 Known Anomalies _______________ None. 7.0 Media Contents ______________ One MSDOS format 5 1/4 inch DSDD diskette with one file containing the CP18 microprogram. The file identifier is "/scu/0188000.c18". This file occupies 143360 bytes. 8.0 Installation Instructions _________________________ From the SCU Maintenance Menu on the SCU, select the Set Console Defaults option and set the CPUCODE default to be the new microcode version. Then, select the Install SCU Software function, place the CP18 microcode diskette in drive A, and hit the Execute key. The next time CPU microcode is loaded, this microcode will be loaded.
